Rodolfo Jaravata

BS Physical Therapy 1st year

Men are meant to make great things. Everyone of us dream of something for ourselves, our family, for someone, or the greater humanity. It is what drives us to live our lives and pursue greater heights. I have seen myself too doing great things, but I also released early on that ad astra as per aspera (the read road to the stars is a hard one). Doing what I have done and achieving what I have achieved is no walk in of Christ the King College for me to change my stars. When I happen upon the library, I found myself immersed in things that sparked my curiosity that began my quest for greater knowledge. Soon I found out that I know more than the average student and sometimes I know more than the teacher. My potential remaining unnoticed until I reached high school. During my high school education, I excelled greatly in science subjects. Teachers saw this potential and began sending me to represent myself in competition. Saint Louis College sent me to The Search for Outstanding Young Scientists (TOYS), were I was able to bag the second place in science. This was followed by competitions within the school during Foundation Days, Club celebrations, and Subject Weeks, especially in science; and competition without the school such as Foundation Days in other schools, City Fiesta, and prestigious club celebrations and won most. I also participated in DENR sponsored competitions, UP sponsored competitions, and TOYS competitions and garnered championship, if not within the top three spots. Quarterly, each honors those that garnered the highest grade in a subject and almost always I receive awards for my performance in natural science, biology, chemistry, and physics. The reputation I have built preceded me into my college years. It has been my sister's frustrated dream to go into a university, especially to University of Santo Tomas (UST), and she had wanted me to go to a university in her stead. But then I felt that the metropolitan life was too much for me and I decided to enroll in a local college. My cousin encouraged me to enroll at Lorma Colleges and thus began my road to greater success. My foray into competitions never stop in high school. I still was constantly sent to inter-school competitions, especially within the school. I was a champion in the Math-Science Club Week (10 September 1999), Battle of the Wizards tertiary level (7 January 2000), Inter-School Quiz Bee tertiary level during the 28th Foundation Day Anniversary of Lorma Colleges (11 February 1999) and in Extemporaneous Speaking contest during the English Week celebration (2000). I was in first place in National Super Quiz Bee (6 December 2000), Battle of the Wizards tertiary level (7 February 2001), Saint Louis College 34th Foundation Day Inter-School Quiz Bee (19 January 1999), and Rotary Club Quiz Bee (2000). I got second place in the Rotary Club Quiz Bee (2001). I have been a constant member of the Dean's List of achievers from first year to fourth year and also a consistent academic scholar from first year to fourth year. During my clinical internship I garnered the highest grade ever in Veterans Memorial Medical Center of 100.50% last February 2003. I had a consistently high clinical grade for all agencies to which Lorma College of Physical Therapy was affiliated to. I have also culminated my studies with more achievements by graduating with honors (cum laude) and an award for being the Best in Clinical Performance in Physical Therapy. Despite my many achievements, I never saw myself as having no need to improve or exert greater effort, instead I felt as I have more and more achievements that I must keep up the momentum and not disappoint people. Knowing my capacities, my educators and friends knew in their heart that I would do great in the board examination, and I thanked God I did not fail them. After my 2, 3 August 2003 examination, I receive a call at 2:00 AM in the morning with my reviewer telling me that I am 6th in the ranking of the best performing test takers in Philippines Physical Therapy Examination. I have never expected even in the smallest measure the prestige this achievement will bring me and what this will bring my alma mater Lorma Colleges. It brought unexpected awards and salutations from Lorma Colleges, prestige and privileges, and most of all the name it has given Lorma Colleges after this. I has help me land a job in my alma mater and has painted a professional picture for my prospective employers. And most of all, it has brought me respect and recognition from my family, friends, peers, and institution.
